HSUS Statement: Body-gripping traps (steel-jawed foothold traps, snares, and Conibear traps) cause severe
distress, fear, and pain to both wildlife and pets. Body-gripping traps slam closed on and grip tightly an animal's leg or
other body part. As a result, animals can suffer lacerations, broken bones, and joint dislocation. As the animal struggles
to get free, he/she sometimes chews off a leg to escape or breaks teeth by biting the metal trap.

These animals were "live" trapped. Some of these animals chew their foot or leg off in an effort to get
free. Most will bleed to death. The fur of these animals may be used in various ways or, sometimes, this is but a cruel act
of a human for no apparent reason. Some peole are only "kill happy" and the suffering of animals does not affect the human
at all. Our pets can also become trapped within these steel jaws and can die there from the elements, hunger and/or no water.
It's so sad that we've come to this.

The other side of the coin...
I added these urls because when I read them, I became boiling mad! We can reach a lot of people through
our anti-cruelty/animal welfare efforts, but unfortunately, there will always be those who will view it quite differently
than we do.
